The Outstanding Tiny Desk AI template, shot by shot
Updated · Tiny Desk AI team
Every Tiny Desk AI video follows the same template: the four shots of the viral clip, about 18 seconds, with the song. There are five seats. Put a photo in any of them and you appear in the shots that seat is in; everyone else keeps playing.
The four shots
- 0:00 · The band (5.3s): keys, back left, back right.
- 0:05 · The big laugh (6.3s): lead vocals.
- 0:11 · Sax solo (3.4s): keys, sax.
- 0:15 · Fists up (2.6s): keys, back left, back right.
The five seats
- Lead vocals: red cap, the big laugh. On screen at 0:05.
- Keys: front row, at the red keyboard. On screen at 0:00, 0:11, 0:15.
- Back left: backing vocals, white polo. On screen at 0:00, 0:15.
- Back right: backing vocals, red jacket. On screen at 0:00, 0:15.
- Sax: the solo everyone rewinds. On screen at 0:11.
Two house bands
Pick who plays the seats you don’t fill. The puppy band is a Samoyed on lead, a beagle on keys, a Pomeranian and an Aussie on backing vocals and a corgi on sax. The people band is five fictional musicians in plain outfits. Both follow the original cut and keep their headsets on.
How to use the template
- Open the Tiny Desk AI generator and choose the puppy band or the people band.
- Tap any seat and add one clear, front-facing photo per person.
- Make the video. It takes 5 to 10 minutes; you get the song version and a silent copy.
